Notification of a serious gas accident to Fair Trading

DY Plumbers • October 15, 2012

Owners or occupiers are now required to notify Fair Trading if a serious gas accident occurs on their premises.

mail: Energy Utilities Unit, NSW Fair Trading, PO Box 972, PARRAMATTA NSW 2124

phone: 13 32 20

email: gassafety@services.nsw.gov.au

Please include information on where, when and what happened, and provide contact details for Fair Trading to get back in touch with you.

While gas accidents are reported to the WorkCover Authority (if it is a workplace) and emergency services are usually involved, this requirement will cover other situations involving outdoor heaters or gas barbecues and will allow Fair Trading to investigate and ensure gas consumer safety is maintained.

A serious gas accident means an accident:

- caused by the use of a gas appliance, gas installation to supply gas, or by work carried out on a gas appliance, gas installation, and

- in which a person dies or suffers permanent disability, is hospitalised or receives treatment from a health care professional or is unable to attend work for any period of time.

It's World Ocean Day. Time to remember the three P's rule when flushing toilets. (Pee, poo and paper only) And don't forget, "flushable" wipes are not really flushable. Let's keep it clean for generations to come.

Is that a yellow bath? No, it is not what it seems. That is us dye testing the bath to check first of all a leak from the waste, then for a leak around the top seal of the bath. And yes it did leak. See the yellow trail coming down the kitchen wall. #dyplumbers #deewhyplumbers #balgowlah #leakingbath https://posts.gle/dGsbKr

What started as a smallish job to drain some ground water seepage from under a unit block has turned into a major job. We have found that the old clay pipe stormwater pipe is chockablock full of soil. This obviously hasn't been working for years and years and no doubt contributing to their rising damp issues. Every piece of stormwater pipe dug up revealed more and more dirt. Even the newish part was full. Looks like there is more digging to do. #dyplumbers #deewhyplumbers #manly #stormwater #blockedstormwater https://posts.gle/GVz651

We recently finished a bathroom renovation for some of our good customers. However, it started like this. Leak coming through from the bathroom into the hallway. Husband softly softly approach to finding and fixing the leak. Wife with sledge hammer smashed out the wall - now there definitely was a leak The wash up is a brand new beautiful bathroom. Kelly and Paul congratulations on all the work you have put into your new bathroom. It is lovely. #deewhyplumbers #dyplumbers #bathroomrenovations #northernbeaches #balgowlah #girlwantsanewbathroom https://posts.gle/hEhHze
